The jurymen of this famous Song Contest appreciated the excellent audio quality of the Roger earpiece during rehearsals and even more during the live TV broadcast to hear instructions from the director and to hear each other since they sit next to each other facing toward the stage. Ever since we have used the Roger Earpiece System from Phonak at the Olympic Games, we are able to provide a solution to journalists who work on stadiums and other large sports venues and need ear prompting coverage. For this type of application, where the distance or surroundings are not suitable for a direct BaseStation-to-Earpiece communication, we connected the Roger Earpiece with a Multimedia Hub and used a wireless IEM system with its receiver positioned close to the talent or journalist. The output of this receiver is then connected with the input of the PHONAK MMH and can therefore transmit from the MMH directly into the journalist’s ear.

The Roger Earpiece System solved the interferences due to LED lighting or other wireless devices on stage. On top of that, we were able to add shots spontaneously to the show by putting the Repeater in the presenter’s jacket pocket. Without this miniature earpiece, we wouldn’t have been able to have backstage broadcasts.

It was a great honour to have the Roger earpiece used on stage for the performance and, at the same time a very successful experience, as the long speech involved a lot of text to memorise.
